2008/09 season - League Race

Post by redbeard on Mon Aug 11, 2008 10:02 am

After aw the chatter aboot the AHWg looking to be a stong team challenging this year it seems they're struggling for a team, still looking for players to add to their Summer League winning team. Or so im told.

The station appears to have an 18 man squad and so far are saying if there are 14 boys in the pub for the team on any one night, 14 will play. None of this playing the strongest team you've got.

Also from what i hear its a mass Exodus from the windsor A team. Also heard their captain has another offer, what you sayin to it Den? If the Winnie A fold will the bayview have a team? who's 2nd reserve again?

C'mon Stoo get the fixtures up Very Happy was looking to get the weekly predictions ball rolling again today

Ive put a poll up too, not sure if its the correct 16. also its multiple answer and you can cancel your vote so you can say it will either be 'xxx' or 'yyy' then when 'yyy' are getting stuffed change them to 'zzz' (i have too much time on my hands!)

windsor v blazers

Post by STOO01 on Thu Aug 21, 2008 10:21 pm

tough game tonight v windsor b in my opinion all the games could have went either way especially the first 3 games i was on 3rd and have to apoligise to simon after naming the bag and missing then potting the ball in the middle. but as we had agreed before the game between the captains not to name the bag the resulting frame went to stoo sorry squire. after being 8-0 down windsor b did win the next 2 doubles but lost the last. for a final score of 9-2

it seems the first of the top four to slip up was the auld hoose windygates after missing a meeting thats as good as a defeat miss another meeting and it wont really matter but a third and its all over (tassie style)

thats another win on the books for the Station against a much improved empire team. Them having Stevie Fowler, Cascarino and john anderson- both played for the buck B last year. And another couple o decent players.

6-5 but Station had it won in the 1st doubles. James Anderson finally got off the bench to play and win his 1st singles o the year. Big Pete Sermon beat George Cascarino, he was delighted with that. And i went the long way about it as usual but got the win in the end, i did check to make sure everyone was reeeeeeeeeeeally sure i didnt have to nominate my bag Smile lol. How'd aw bugger else get on?

6-0 up on the kirkland and the game was over we lost the next single but managed somehow to win all the doubles kirkland should have won at least 2 of them some bad misses from the rebuilt kirkland squad the only guy i had seen before was the cigar smoking captain. finally winning 10-1 v a very young dummy looking team but can only get better from playing in the league i think. Suspect
your wright bampot you were lucky to keep your 100% last night but the guy couldni finish and you could thats what its about potting the black when ur on it Wink

Well the station started to look like a good team tonight, pumping the Sunbeam 7-1 in the singles, 8-3 overall. and that was still by playing all 14 players in the pub on the night. The team may be a player or two light next week after a barney with the landlord, but hey, we'll see, bloody nonsense.

Looking forward to the Blazers game, just been told by El Capitano that we have a secret weapon for the big games noo...

How'd aw bugger else get on?

oh aye, for yer stats Stoo, clock up wins for both me n Mr Anderson

well done to the station tonight then redbeard

Over at the Windsor in was Windsor B (were still called that even wi just 1 team) 9 Empire 2

6-2 up after the singles then played and won all 3 doubles - however that is not the main story of the night.................once the game was over Stevie Fowler challenged anyone from the Windsor for a game first to 5 for £100 (this was after yours truly had pumped him in the first game of the singles Very Happy )

To cut a long story short Conor took the bet on the condition he got a frame headstart as this was what Stevie offered - once the money was on the table the bet changed and it had to start at 0-0 - after a bit of arguing Conor took the bet anyway cos he's a mad gambling Irish Fuck!!! lol!

Final score Burns 5 Fowler 2 - and Mr Burns got a pint in for all the boys - Gawn yoursel ya mad Irish Fucker!!!!

Well played Conor and cheers for the drink but please don't go on about it for the next 5 years dummy
