2009/10 season - League Race

Post  joebuck on Fri Aug 07, 2009 12:39 pm

Blazers go up in a puff of smoke and go down to the Argyle. So after just 1 league match we can have the presentation and give the "Brig" title number 6.

On another note about speed:-

This match was 11 frames and took over 4 hours to play Crying or Very sad

On the other hand Brian Thomson played 3 matches of 8 frames each for a total of 24 frames in less than 3 hours on the same night.

The difference being Brian played "Blackball Rules" and Leven league plays old fudging rules.

Change the rules or risk killing the game Idea

blazers had an off night terry had poted the black and the white went down, jim anderson had what looked a straight black twice to win and i should have got position on my last colour but fumbled and lost. so 3 frames that should have been ours and that would have been the game silly mistakes cost us dearly.

rule changes it was just the way the frames went noone was potting balls on either side and their was a bid fanning about with snookers. 1 on 1 is always gonna be played faster as 1 player is gonna get a run at the balls in the league each player is different so the 2 cannot be compaird in my opinion.

anyway blazers need to forget about lastnight and look forward to getting some points on the table starting next week

at the AGM 18 teams were allowed into the league, so the fixtures were made up but the toll bar pulled out so this was given as a free week but now the auld hoose buckhaven have pulled out the league after not showing for the brig game.

i hope ive got this correct the way it was explained to me is that the first week's results will stand with the second week as in the fixture list to be played but from there after the fixtures will be redone to take ou the 2 free weeks good idea but they should just have started a fresh as its a bit of a shambles.

a similair thing happened back in 2000-01 when 4 teams pulled out the league, 4 new teams were found and after two matches of the season had been played it was abandoned and restarted. in the end the brig b and rural also pulled out making it a 14 league.

the new fixtures should be handed out wednesday night 12th aug.

the windsor and brig had free weeks because the toll and ahb pulled out the league so the fixtures have been re-arranged so there are no free weeks except at christmas (3 weeks) the Windsor v Brig Tavern game will be played on the 17 dec 09

It's like playing pool in Jackie Os! To be fair, the table has been recovered and is lightning fast.

looking at the league table with rearly half way through the season it has brig and the tassie ahead but the brig have a game versus the windsor so it may be 3 points versus silver tassie and 6 over blazers
brig also play auld hoose so it may be a toughy for brig but a lose for auld hoose and there out of it 9 points is to mutch to catch up if they lose

league race

Post  STOO01 on Fri Dec 11, 2009 11:33 am

their was a few upsets last night starting with the champions going down 6-5 after being up 3-0 to auld hoose who keep them selves in the league race.
Silver tassie lose away at Railway 6-5, Buck'n'Hynd win at Argyle 6-5, Den inn move to within 3 points of the lead with a win at Empire 8-3.
Windsor beat the pointless Bayview 7-4. Blazers smash Central 10-1 with stoo the only depeat for Blazers.

Aye it could have been so different against the ahw if the guys just took their chances. There was alot of banter flying around and it put off players from both sides. At 3-3 our last 2 guys had CLEAR chances to finish but seemingly threw it away. I believe on any other day it would have been 5-3 to us after singles then only needing 1 of the doubles but it went in the favour of ahw who took the 2nd doubles. Best finish of the match has to go to Craig Sanders who did a brilliant run out from very difficult placed balls. thumbs up thumbs up All in all it was a good night and well done to the windygates boys but the brig shall just re group and be back to fight another day. Lets hope we get the win against the windsor in our final game of the 1st half of the season to be christmas no 1.
