All Fife Final in National Pool Event
Fife pool players have pocketed the prize of best in scotland. The recent final or the scottish eightball pool federation (SEPF) Interleague championship for 2009 was an all-kingdom affair.
An eight man squad from Styx A in Kirkcaldy defeated East Neuk C in the final at Pettycur Bay in Kinghorn.
Teams representing Fraserburgh A,B, SEPF Ladies, Montrose A,B, Abertay Ladies, Abertay A,B, Kirkcaldy, Aberdeen A,B, Cowdenbeath, Glasgow University, Boddam & Cruden, Strathclyde University, Robert Gordon University were all vying for the title, while the East Neuk also had A, B and C squad's taking part.
East Neuk A reached the quarter-finals, while East Neuk C managed an 11-10 semi-final win over Fraserburgh B, before gallantly going down 11-3 in the final to Styx A.
Eastr Neuk C's winning players in the final were Mike Paterson, John Chater and Bob Legg, While their squad also included Gary Chater, Duncan Bush, Steven Doherty, Murray Herd and Ryan Doherty.
Styx A's Triumphant side also had local connection - Rab Warrender, known to all as 'Baba', is from Buckhaven, while Chris Corcoran plays in the Levenmouth Pool League, both play for Blazers in Leven.
The squad's prize is the chance to take on the best from around Europe in April 2010 in the Europan Cup.
In this event, teams from England, France, Northern Ireland, Wales, Malta and Republic of Ireland compete for the Silverware.
SEPF tournament organisers have expressed thanks to all players who took part, particularly the new ones, and extended a welcome back to everyone to compete in next years event.
